    Inca Trail – 4 Days / 3 Nights

    DAY 1: CUSCO – PISCACUCHO – CANABAMBA – LLACTAPATA – HUAYLLABAMBA – AYAPATA

We begin our journey early in the morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. After picking up all our passengers, we will head to Ollantaytambo, where those who wish can have breakfast or buy some candy or chocolate to help them on the hike. We will then continue to Km. 82 Piscacucho.

The first few hours of the hike are relatively easy and will prepare you for the more difficult parts. We will stop in front of a small Inca site called Canabamba. Here, you will learn about the water channels and appreciate the spectacular La Verónica glacier. Then, we will head to Wilkarakay and see the magical archaeological site of Llactapata, whose stone walls protrude from the vegetation on the other side of the Urubamba River. We will continue to Tarayoc, where we will have our first lunch during the route.

In the afternoon, we will continue walking for about three and a half hours to our first campsite in Ayapata. We will arrive at our campsite around 5:00 p.m., where you can rest until dinner time. Then you will go to sleep to recover your energy for the next day.

In the morning, we will have breakfast starting at 5:30 a.m., then continue the 4-hour hike to the highest point of the route, the Abra de la Mujer Muerta. From here, you will get the most incredible views of the immense mountains.

Then we will descend for an hour and a half to the other side of the valley until we reach Pacaymayu, where we will have lunch. After lunch and a rest, we will ascend to the archaeological site of Runkurakay, where we will take time to observe this small complex with two impressive waterfalls on the mountainside.

Once again, we will resume our hike, descending for approximately one hour before reaching the next archaeological complex of Sayaqmarka. Reaching this point is almost inaccessible, but it is well worth the visit. From there, we will only have a 25-minute walk to reach our camp in Chaquiqocha, where we will have dinner and then rest and spend the night.

After breakfast, we will continue our hour-and-a-half hike while you enjoy the scenery as the jungle begins. You will also be able to see the snow-capped Salkantay mountain in the distance and the jungle on the other side.

Next, you will ascend to the final peak of the route at Phuyupatamarka, a mystical place above the clouds. Then, you will descend for two and a half hours until you reach Intipata, an important agricultural site from where you can contemplate the impressive landscape with the Urubamba River running through it like a snake.

Afterwards, we will continue walking for another half hour until we reach our camp, a short distance from the archaeological site of Wiña Wayna. We will arrive here in the early afternoon to enjoy lunch before visiting the archaeological site. The name of the Wiñay Wayna complex means “eternally young” and is considered one of the most impressive stops on the route.

Once back at the camp, you will have your last dinner there and say goodbye to the chefs and porters who accompanied us on the route. You can thank them with a tip as a token of your appreciation. Finally, you will go to rest and get up very early the next day.

Today we will wake up at 3:30 a.m. to begin our hike to the Sun Gate and watch the sunrise. At around 4:30 a.m., we will provide you with a packed breakfast, then descend to the checkpoint and walk for approximately one hour to enjoy the majestic view of Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu.

Afterwards, we will have a two-hour tour full of history with our guide, and you will have free time to take more photos and explore the archaeological site. From there, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch on your own and visit the hot springs, and then finally head to the train station, which can be (14:55 or 21:50 depending on availability) to return to the town of Ollantaytambo, where we will be waiting for you with the tour bus to take you to the city of Cusco.

We will be impressed by immense colonies of sea lions and Humboldt penguins, and by the countless guano birds that fly over the area.

Pick up from the airport. Accommodation at the hotel in Lima.

At 14:30 hrs we will start with the City tour, for which the pick up from the hotels starts at 14:00 hrs.

We will enjoy a tour knowing Lima in its three stages: Ancestral, Colonial and Modern Lima. We will start the tour with a panoramic view of the “Pucllana Pyramid”, ancient ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century A.D. and considered the Sacred Town of the Incas.

Then we will go to the Historic Center of Lima where we will observe what was the old Lima Cuadrada, and appreciate more than fifty monuments and colonial buildings among which are the Paseo de la Republica, the Plaza San Martin, the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, among others. Continuing the tour we will visit the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank where we will appreciate the Collection of Treasures of Peru within which we will find ceramic objects, gold and textiles of various pre-Columbian cultures. We will also visit the Monumental Complex of San Francisco, which is the largest sample of colonial religious art in America where its main attraction are the subway crypts known as “Catacombs”. Finally we will go to the Contemporary Zone of Lima where we will see the main buildings and residential areas of Lima: El Olivar de San Isidro, Miraflores, Larcomar and Parque del Amor.

Our tour ends at 18:00 hrs. Overnight in Lima.

At 04:00 a.m. you will be picked up from the hotel or coordinated place to go to the city of Paracas, we will arrive in Paracas at 8:00 a.m. approximately. Afterwards you will go to the dock “El Chaco” to board a boat that will take us to the Ballestas Islands.

The first stop of our boat will be in front of the enigmatic Candelabro, a huge geoglyph designed in the sandy summit that has the shape of a trident with more than 2500 years old. We will discover the different hypotheses about its origin, which could be linked to ancient pirates or even with the creators of the famous Nazca Lines.

Continuing our tour we will arrive at the Ballestas Islands. The Ballestas Islands are three small islands where we will discover the impressive maritime and ecological richness of Peru. We will be impressed by immense colonies of sea lions and Humboldt penguins, and by the countless guano birds that fly over the area.

Although it is forbidden to land on the islands so as not to alter the ecosystem or disturb the animals, we will get close enough to see them interacting in their natural habitat. We will skirt the three islands in a crossing of approximately one hour. Then, we will return to the Paracas dock.

Afterwards, we will continue our trip to Ica. We will visit an artisan winery where the Peruvian brandy known as Pisco is made. In this place our local guide will take us on a tour of the winery’s facilities and will explain the ancient method of elaboration of Pisco and wine. After the tour our clients will be able to taste the different varieties of Pisco and wine that this winery produces, and if they wish, they will also be able to purchase these products.

Afterwards, we will go to the Huacachina Oasis, a place located only 5 Km. from downtown. In this beautiful lagoon visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the place and walk around in search of good photos and / or restaurants (free time).
