DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO TARAPOTO / TOUR LAMAS

Upon arrival in Tarapoto, you will be met at Cadete FAP Guillermo del Castillo Paredes Airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Your tour will begin at 3:00 PM with a pick-up from your hotel, followed by a transfer to the city of Lamas, which Antonio Raymondo called the “City of Three Levels.”

The first activity will be a visit to the local museum, where you will learn about the history of this culture and view a collection of ceramics, textiles, paintings, and representations of the main festivals and traditions of the Lamas people.

Our next stop will be the Lamas Castle, where, exploring its various rooms, bridges, and levels, you will have the best photo opportunities of this picturesque building inspired by medieval castles. Afterward, you will also have the opportunity to sample chocolates and visit the cigar shop.

Finally, we will descend to the Quechua native community of “El Wayku,” founded in 1438, which to this day preserves its ancestral customs, language, and traditional clothing. Overnight stay in Tarapoto.

After breakfast at the hotel, your transportation will pick you up to visit one of the region’s most important natural treasures: Laguna Azul (Blue Lagoon). Located in the district of Sauce, this magnificent aquatic reserve is 54 km from the city of Tarapoto and boasts a surface area of 480.30 hectares.

Midway through the journey, we’ll arrive at Puerto López to cross the Huallaga River on a raft that will take us to the other side in a short 10-minute ride.

After crossing, we continue along a well-maintained road to our first stop at the Punta del Gallinazo viewpoint, where we’ll have a privileged view of the Huallaga River and the grandeur of the rainforest.

After 30 minutes, we’ll finally arrive in the town of Sauce, home to cheerful and welcoming residents who make their living from tourism and fishing. At the lakeside port, a boat will be waiting to take us on a tour of the lagoon, where you can appreciate the lush vegetation, the beauty of the lake, the sounds of nature, and the locals at work fishing. You’ll also have the option to enjoy water sports and adventure activities such as zip-lining, jet skiing, and more, and take a dip in the warm waters of the lagoon.

This day will also offer the opportunity to sample delicious regional cuisine at a lunch with a variety of options to suit all tastes. Overnight in Tarapoto.

We depart in the early hours of the morning to immerse ourselves in the Santa Elena Reserve with the first rays of sunlight.

Accompanied by our local guides, guardians of this magical ecosystem, we will travel by water for two hours through the Santa Elena wetlands, a place that is home to a great variety of trees, ferns, and diverse fauna, including monkeys, birds, otters, and more.

After a hearty breakfast, we will continue our journey to the source of the Tioyacu River, which forms whimsical natural pools of green and turquoise hues as it flows. Overnight in Tarapoto.

On your last day, visit the Ahuashiyacu and Golondrinas waterfalls. We’ll make a brief stop at a viewpoint halfway through the tour.
