tambopata 4 Days / 3 Nights

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO PUERTO MALDONADO

Airport or bus terminal reception and transfer to the office for check-in. If you have large suitcases, we suggest repacking and taking only the essentials.

Transfer by road to our destination, approximately a 2-hour drive to the banks of the Tambopata River. There, we will board a boat to our lodge. We will welcome you and show you to your rooms, followed by lunch.

In the afternoon, we will take an introductory hike into the rainforest, where we will have the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat, including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and fascinating insects, among others. Overnight at the lodge.

We wake up bright and early to head to the world’s largest macaw clay lick, Collpa Chuncho, on a boat trip of approximately 1.5 hours. Along the way, we’ll have the incredible opportunity to see species such as capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, tapirs, and even the most beautiful South American feline, the jaguar. Many of our clients have photographic evidence of encounters with these magnificent mammals.

Once we arrive at the macaw clay lick, we’ll see hundreds of parrots of different species coming to eat clay from the riverbank. We’ll settle into our chairs and wait for one of the most beautiful natural birdwatching displays in the world to begin. Following the parrots are the three most colorful macaw species in the Americas: the red-and-green, along with the blue-and-yellow, all gathering to eat the clay, which is essential to their daily diet and helps them eliminate toxins. On a good day, you might see hundreds of these magnificent animals soaring overhead. A truly unforgettable experience. We’ll return to our lodge for breakfast and a short rest.

Then, we’ll take a walk through our botanical garden, where we can admire some of the fruit, timber, and medicinal plants native to our region, accompanied by our guide. Lunch will follow.

In the afternoon, we’ll have the opportunity to kayak on the Tambopata River. We’ll travel silently along the water, giving us a better chance to observe the larger animals of the Tambopata Reserve.

The evening is free to relax or you can opt for another night hike. Overnight at the lodge.

After a good breakfast, our boat will take us to the transport back to Puerto Maldonado, following the same route we took to get there. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, transfer to the bus terminal or airport. End of service.
